NetherRealm Studio’s is continuing the hype for the upcoming reboot / reimagination of the Mortal Kombat series by briefing gamers on the game’s lore and history. Through the video, viewers will learn the history of the classic stage and see how it has evolved throughout the course of the series. The narrator explains that the fighting location was designed by Shang Tsung to further punish those whom have provoked him; battle on the stage almost completely ensures death to those that end up on the losing end of a battle. Unfortunately, in the eyes of Shang Tsung, the fact that a small number of defeated kombatants managed to survive the fall in the arena and he made “improvements” to the arena to ensure that survival chances were reduced to zero. This included the addition of spikes, blades, and even a specially trained assassin stationed at the bottom to carry out the death sentence of those sentenced to the a plunge off of the walkway.

Mortal Kombat is being developed for both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 and will release next Spring.
