Funcom’s Stunning Adventure Game Coming to DRM-free Digital Distribution Site

Warsaw, Poland – September 17, 2009. GOG.com (http://www.gog.com), the classic games paradise that just turned one, is still celebrating its anniversary month, revealing another new publishing deal to bring a landmark adventure game to the site. Funcom, the acclaimed Norwegian publisher and developer, is bringing the 2000 “Adventure Game of The Year” – as awarded by IGN and GameSpot – The Longest Journey, to the site. The game is now up for grabs at GOG.com for just $9.99.

The game, praised by critics for its complex and interesting story, as well as its top-notch visuals and beautiful soundtrack, puts players in the role of a student, April Ryan, who has just moved from the country to the big city – a world of science and technology. But there's something wrong as April experiences horrible nightmares every night. She soon notices that the nightmares stem from a parallel universe of magic that really exists. April turns out to be a Shifter, someone capable of switching between the two worlds, and she's the only hope to restore the balance between dimensions. Before gamers reach the end, they'll explore vast, beautiful worlds and a well developed and mature story.

“We are very pleased to make The Longest Journey available at GOG.com,” says Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Funcom, Morten Larssen. “This is one of the most heralded and critically acclaimed adventure games of all time, and even after all these years it’s still going strong. GOG.com is an exciting distribution platform that we believe will serve The Longest Journey very well, and we are very excited about seeing the adventures of April Ryan become available to an even broader audience.”

“The Longest Journey is one of those games that gives you the best of both worlds – the complex and well written story of a classic adventure game and the great visuals and sounds of newer titles,” said Adam Oldakowski, Managing Director of GOG.com. “That's a combination that GOG.com users are really looking for in our games – experiences that really stand the test of time. I'm sure they'll love this masterpiece from Funcom.”

The Longest Journey is already available for download at GOG.com for $9.99, DRM-free and compatible with Windows XP and Vista.
