Floor It! Ridge Racer Type 4 coming to PSN... in Europe

More On: Ridge Racer Type 4
There was a time when Ridge Racer wasn't just an internet meme. In fact, the series was once synonymous with the the PlayStation brand exclusively. The original PlayStation debuted with Ridge Racer in 1995 and Ridge Racer V was available at launch for the PlayStation 2 back in 2000. The games have generally been about arcade-style racing, with a balance between speed and drifting around corners.

Thanks to Namco Bandai, one of the best entries in the Ridge Racer franchise is coming to the PlayStation Store soon. Ridge Racer Type 4 will see release this later this Spring for European territories, and it's expected that North American users will see the game at some point as well. Ridge Racer Type 4 was the best-looking game of the series at the time, and its story-based Real Racing Roots campaign is a big highlight. Players race for four different teams, and each has its own set of cars and its own unique storyline that evolves based on the player's progress. Once the storytelling ends and racing begins, the car that you pick sets the strategy for the event. Terrazi and Age models grip the track tightly, while Lizard and Assoluto vehicles slide around corners with style.

The re-release of Ridge Racer Type 4 is promoting new games in the franchise's library. Ridge Racer 3D is coming for the 3DS and Ridge Racer Unbounded is in development for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. If you never got a chance to check out Ridge Racer Type 4 during the heyday of the original PlayStation, be sure to check it out when it becomes available on the PlayStation Store soon.
