Classic R-Type now available in AppStore

The folks at EA Mobile decided that a port of an all-time classic arcade side-scroller would be the ideal thing to celebrate back-to-school season (actually, I just made that up.) Regardless, the AppStore now sports a shiny new port of the 100% accurate port of the original 1987 arcade classic R-Type that you can call your own. In keeping with the original, it has 8 levels, 2 difficulty levels, power ups, weapon upgrades, attachments and of course 8 boss battles. The lone update is the 3 control options (tilt, touch and virtual d-pad.) It can be had for the iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad running iPhone OS 3.0 or later for a mere $1.99.
