BioWare announces Dragon Age Legends Facebook game

Sometimes I wish I still had a Facebook account so I could tell a more personal account of these news stories related to it.

Today, BioWare announced Dragon Age Legends, which is a free Facebook game with socially integrated tactical combat and co-operative play. When it launches in February of next year, playing the Facebook game will give you access to unlocks for Dragon Age II.

General Manager at EA 2D expressed their intentions of surpassing the standard on social networking games currently in existence, and explained that they will continue to support the game by adding new features and content.

The setting of Dragon Age Legends is in Free Marches, which sets the storyline for Dragon Age II. It will even feature character customization and an upgrade system. It might be time to reactivate that Facebook account just to give it a shot. 

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – November 3, 2010 – BioWare™, a division of Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS) today announced Dragon Age™ Legends, a new Play4Free Facebook® game that expands on the critically acclaimed RPG franchise Dragon Age. The new game is inspired by the award-winning BioWare franchise but custom-designed for the casual and social play style for Facebook users of all ages. Dragon Age Legends blends accessible and engaging tactical combat with compelling co-operative gameplay perfectly suited for social networks, making for a unique offering on the platform. Launching in February 2011, Dragon Age Legends will also give gamers the chance to earn exclusive unlocks* for Dragon Age II, one of the most highly anticipated video games of 2011.

Dragon Age Legends will give players their first taste of the Free Marches, the primary setting of Dragon Age II. Alongside their Facebook friends, players will take on challenging quests within an engaging storyline, earning loot, sharing rewards and growing their kingdom. The game will include a gratifying character customization and upgrade system that will allow players to tackle demons and darkspawn to become a legendary hero within the Dragon Age universe.

Dragon Age II, the sequel to Dragon Age: Origins, 2009’s RPG of the Year as named by SpikeTV, Game Informer and IGN, will be available on March 8, 2011 for the Xbox 360® videogame and entertainment system, the PlayStation®3 computer and entertainment system and the PC.
