DICE senior producer Patrick Bach was recently quoted in an interview with Xbox World 360 magazine as stating that they have given explicit instructions to Electronic Arts regarding additional DLC content for Battlefield: Bad Company 2. In the interview, Bach states that DICE believes and has told EA that it is very important that any and all Bad Company Map Packs that will be issued should be released at no additional charge. DICE believes that this sort of marketing strategy is important in keeping the BBC2 community together in the long run.

In addition to those sentiments, Bach also states that the developer has an extensive amount of DLC planned for the game. As long as EA cooperates with the demands of the developers, Bad Company 2 could have an incredibly long lifespan ahead of itself. It will be very interesting to see how EA handles the fact that these statements were made in such a public forum when DLC for the game is eventually announced / released.

It is a smart move for the company to make these statements hot on the heals of the Modern Warfare 2 Stimulus Package pricing debacle (that was a mouthful) and could position the Bad Company series to take the top spot in the war for best FPS multiplayer. At this point, the ball is in Electronic Arts’ hands and it will be up to them to make the next play when DICE gives them the content to release. Then again, Microsoft and Sony will both have “says” in the process too when the content is release on their distribution platforms.
